To those accustomed to receiving my travel journals, today marks the beginning of another venture: the publishing of my new novel. Here’s a little bit about it…
Part One: The War
This Civil War saga begins with a brave military leader and his men, two teenage kids who have landed themselves in deadly trouble, and the sheriff who pursues them as they live through some of the most notable battles in American history. Full of humor and the horrors of war, Whiskey Bend: The War captures the chaos that gripped the battlefields of the nation, weaving in the deeply personal stories of complex and captivating characters—heroes and whores, scoundrels and ladies—all thrown together in a suspenseful mix of intrigue and adventure. Fast-paced action and vivid scenes paint the full panorama of our national nightmare and artfully pose the questions that inevitably remain even after the last battle is fought.
PRAISE FOR WHISKEY BEND | THE WAR
“This story pulled me in, giving life to well-written and developed characters. Vivid depictions of both subjects and events were created, allowing the reader to craft hard images of faces and physical settings. Personally, I feel that should be the benchmark of a good story: Did the characters take on a life of their own?
How did those lives fit in their surroundings? The characters felt extremely natural, and the story was a page-turner! You nailed it, Lou—well done!”
